What are the Best Seo Packages in South Africa?

(Spoiler Alert: there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all in SEO)

SEO Packages are Priceless

Your business is unique, your SEO package should be too.

Be Careful of ‘one-size-fits-all’ SEO Packages

So-called “affordable SEO packages” and set pricing options should be a red flag.

No two businesses are the same. A successful campaign needs to be tailored to the specific client, their objectives and to their specific industry or niche.

Experienced marketers and SEO Specialists know this and will strategise accordingly.

SEO Cost – Example

Let’s look at a hypothetical example of how this works…

Mythical Helicopters

Mythical helicopters provide scenic helicopter tours in Location A.

They’ve done little to no SEO.

Our analysis shows us that their top competitor has a fairly good backlink profile of 180 links.

This competitor also has 85 pages of content.

Mythical helicopters have 5 backlinks and 12 pages of content.

The keyword “Helicopter tours Location A” gets roughly 600 searches per month, one lead is worth approximately R6000.

Mythical Helicopters is offered an SEO package for 6 months which includes:

  • Expert Keyword & Competitor Analysis
  • Analytics and conversion tracking
  • Technical SEO Audit & implementations
  • Local SEO Strategy and Implementations
  • On-page Optimisation
  • Targeted Content Strategy
  • Content Creation
  • Link Building (incl. internal links)
  • Monthly Reports

The cost of this work? R30 000 p/m.

Fairy Tale Helicopters

Fairy Tale helicopters provide scenic helicopter tours in Location B.

They rank in the top 20 for most keywords.

Our analysis shows us that its top competitor only has 30 more links.

The content is about equal.

Mythical helicopters have a healthy backlink profile but no internal links.

The keyword “Helicopter tours Location B” gets roughly 250 searches per month, one lead is worth approximately R4000.

Fairy Tale Helicopters is offered an SEO package for 6 months which includes:

  • Expert Keyword & Competitor Analysis
  • Analytics and conversion tracking
  • Technical SEO Audit & implementations
  • Local SEO Strategy and Implementations
  • On-page Optimisation
  • Targeted Content Strategy
  • Content Creation
  • Link Building (incl. internal links)
  • Monthly Reports

The cost of this work? R15 000 p/m.

Exact same industry, two totally different prices.

Fairy Tale Helicopters is fairly well-positioned online and will take less work to rank.

A good internal linking strategy with some strategic content and backlinks could be all it takes to get them to #1 in Google for their most lucrative keywords. For local SEO, you might want to link to location pages, such as my own one…SEO Cape Town.

Assuming analytics is set up correctly, an SEO audit will highlight metrics such as click-through and bounce rates. These will be fine-tuned with good on-page SEO practices to maximise website visits and leverage their already popular pages.

Mythical Helicopters is in a more competitive, and more lucrative, location. They currently get very little search traffic.

It will take a lot more work to get them online traction as they have very little content and very few backlinks.

Due to the competitive nature of their area, a smart content strategy is needed to first tackle less competitive search topics before building up to the big money keywords in their industry.

A small business selling puppies locally is going to have very different needs to our helicopter examples.

The strategy here might be more blog focussed targeting families looking to get their first dog, for example.

We might rely more on social media and YouTube to drive website traffic.

This SEO package might only cost R5000 p/m as the owner will create most of the content.

What do SEO Packages Include?

As this excellent graphic by Bruce Clay shows, SEO is a complex and often complicated structure of activities.

At its core SEO is about data and a good SEO Pro uses the data at their disposal to craft a strategy that satisfies both the search engine and the user.

This is why Analytics & Web Intelligence encompasses the entire pyramid above.

SEO Packages Depend on your position on the Pyramid

As a website owner, you’ve probably heard that links are important.

Yes, they certainly are.

However, if you don’t have excellent content targeting the right market then links are meaningless.

Moreover, not all links are created equal. In this case, quality is way more important than quantity. In fact, the wrong backlinks will hurt your website.

Similarly, the most beautifully designed and user-friendly website won’t mean much if it has technical issues preventing it from being indexed by search engines making it invisible online.

The days of Google ranking rubbish, because it has tons of spammy links thrown at it, are over. Which means a better web for all.

Ultimately this means that content is king. Which brings me to a very important point.

Stellar Content is an Investment

Search Engine Optimisation should be treated and seen as an asset.

The website content that you or an SEO professional create are online assets

Good content is at the heart of any SEO campaign and an SEO package should reflect that.

Good content has the ability to turn visitors into loyal customers. Good content NATURALLY attracts links from other websites.

This is what Google wants. This is what people want. This is what your business needs.

“No Content budgeted

in the SEO Packages? Run!”

The Cost of SEO Content

Ok, so what’s it going to cost for some of that killer content?

The going rate for SEO content in South Africa currently is around R2.50 per word.

In an epic study by Brian Dean, the average word count for pages ranking number one on Google is 1800 words.

That’s potentially R4500 for just one piece of excellent SEO content.

In an aggressive SEO campaign, we might want to do one or two of these pieces a month as well as other shorter supporting articles.

Content alone could cost up to R10 000 p/m.

Avoid ‘Cheap’ or ‘Affordable’ SEO Packages

Good and effective SEO should never be cheap.

You get what you pay for.

  1. Cheap SEO can’t generate quality content
  2. Cheap backlinks don’t move the needle (and can hurt your site).
  3. Cheap SEO = One-Size-Fits-All (see above).
  4. Cheap SEO = many clients = thinly spread resources.
  5. Cheap SEO companies can’t deliver long-term sustainable results.

My Commitment to Quality

SEO is an exciting and ever-changing industry. While there have been some ‘dark-SEO’ times in recent history, Google has become smarter and SEO is evolving.

An SEO’s job is not to trick or ‘game’ search engines, but rather to ensure that quality wins above all.

Technically sound websites ensure a good user experience while quality content satisfies the needs of the human searcher on the other end.

In this way, rankings are earned and we all win.

But, this is not simple to achieve. SEO is a multifaceted organism and websites must tick many boxes to earn these valuable and coveted rankings.

There is no quick-fix here. SEO requires strategic planning and skilful implementation.

I only work with a select number of clients:

  • My focus is on quality over quantity.
  • My SEO packages are not cheap, but they are excellent value for money.
  • I use premium and industry-standard tools (i.e. the right tools for the job).
  • SEO is incredibly dynamic, I am committed to staying at the cutting edge.
  • I am passionate and take pride in results. Your results = my pride.
  • White Hat Only – SEO is a marathon, not a sprint. By following Google’s Best practices we can build a sustainable online presence for your endeavour.
  • NOTE: There are NO guarantees in SEO. In some cases, it can take 6-8 months to see real results. Be very cautious of SEOs that claim otherwise.
